City of St. Louis Protects Tornado Victims with Launch of Contractor Fraud Legal Task Force
Local prosecutors and legal advocates have joined forces to protect storm victims from unlicensed contractors and price-gouging schemes during rebuilding efforts.
ST. LOUIS — Following severe weather events and tornado damage that impacted several St. Louis neighborhoods, city officials have launched a dedicated Contractor Fraud Legal Task Force to protect affected homeowners. The collaborative initiative brings together municipal prosecutors, legal advocates from Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and representatives from the Missouri Attorney General's Office.
The task force was established to combat predatory practices, unlicensed contracting schemes, and price gouging targeting storm victims seeking emergency repairs. By offering free legal assistance, public education resources, and rapid fraud investigation services, officials aim to ensure that residents can rebuild their homes safely without falling victim to financial exploitation.
