Privacy Policy
Effective November 8, 2026
The St. Louis Courier collects as little information as we can. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Reading the site
You can read the Courier without an account or subscription. We do not run advertising trackers, sell advertising based on your activity, or use analytics cookies.
Like nearly every website, ours depends on outside services. Cloudflare hosts the site and processes connection details such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect against abuse. Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google when a page loads. Each company handles that information under its own privacy policy.
Newsletter
If you sign up for our newsletter, we store your email address and the date you signed up. We use it only to send the newsletter, which is delivered through Cloudflare's email service. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your address from our list, and you can also ask us to remove you by emailing staff@stlcourier.com. We keep a record of which issues went to which address while you remain subscribed, and we do not track whether you open our emails.
News tips
When you use our tip form, your message and any name or contact details you choose to give are sent to our newsroom by email. The website does not save a copy, although the message remains in our email system. Name and contact details are optional.
To limit spam, we keep a scrambled code derived from your IP address and a count of recent submissions. We do not store the IP address itself.
No form or email is perfectly anonymous. If you could be harmed by being identified, please read the advice on our Send a Tip page before contacting us.
Emailing us
If you write to us, we keep your message and address in order to respond and to do our reporting.
Cookies
Readers do not receive cookies from the Courier. A single sign-in cookie is used only by our staff when they log in to publish stories.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run the site and our email, or when the law requires it. We take the protection of confidential sources seriously and will resist demands to identify them to the extent the law allows.
Your choices
You may ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing staff@stlcourier.com. Requests about published reporting are handled under our ethics policy and may not result in removal.
Children
The Courier is a general news publication and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and its effective date.
